It really irks me when people get all bent out of shape over Christmas decorations that are still up past New Year's Day. In my family we traditionally leave up all the decorations until at least January 6th, which is the Epiphany (also called Three Kings Day or Twelfth Night). To take anything down before then was definitely taboo when I was young. I don't know why it's such an issue these days. They had a whole phone-in segment on the radio about it this morning. Personally, I really don't understand the folks who want to rip everything down and have it all packed away on New Year's Day. These are probably the same people who were crawling around on their roofs stringing up Christmas lights already the day after Halloween. I don't necessarily want to see a tree still up at Easter, but one extra week into January isn't going to kill you.
