Read Twice, Then Shred

We had rain and thunderstorms yesterday, followed by some wicked winds last night and today. A couple of my deck chairs blew over and trash cans were rolling around in the street. I think it's all dying down now though, and tomorrow is supposed to be a beautiful day. I'm hoping to do some shopping.

I spent much of today cleaning my office and going through paperwork. I can actually sit in my chair and use my desk now.  What a novelty. I did have one uh-oh moment though. I had received an envelope in the mail a while back, opened it, briefly read over the letter, and didn't think I needed to do anything more than put it in my pile of stuff to keep. So today I opened it again, and this time I saw that there was an additional form in there with a return envelope. Again I scanned the letter and didn't think what they were asking applied to me, so I sent the form through the shredder. Yeah, you know where this is going, right? About 10 seconds later I noticed the part of the letter that indicated I did in fact have to fill out the form and return it.  Oops! The only thing that saved me was that the letter said I could choose to fill out the information on their website rather than mail back the form. The only catch -- a couple of ID numbers I needed to enter on the website were on the shredded form. It's a good thing I like putting puzzles together and had some scotch tape.
