Sopping and Mopping

Last night I went to a silver jewelry party that my best friend hosted. I pretty much have stopped going to all those selling-type parties because, to be honest, I don't really need any of that stuff and I don't have much money to spend on frivolous things. They always say you can go and not buy anything, but I'd feel funny. I went to this one because she's my best friend, of course, but also because she had a jeweler there who was buying any gold jewelry we wanted to sell. I figured it might be an easy way to make a few bucks. I scrounged through all my precious gems (Ha!) and came up with a couple broken and kinked chains, a necklace I never liked, a locket I no longer wanted, and 2 pins from my old company. Cha-ching! I got $235 for those pieces that I've had lying around for years. Not bad. I ended up buying just one pair of earrings, so I definitely came home ahead. Here's a picture of them.

This evening I went down to my basement to do a load of laundry and found a mini-flood coming from the air conditioner.

As best I can tell, I think either the pump or the water drainage tube may be clogged, or maybe the pump is just broken. At any rate, it's in an awkward area and attached to the side of the unit, plus I really don't have any clue what to look for or how to fix it, so I just unplugged the pump, turned off the a/c, and threw down a bunch of towels. I'll call the a/c people on Monday. It could be worse though...I could have not gone down to the basement at all today and had a major flood tomorrow.
